Okay, first of all, my husband is deaf – not Deaf. There is a difference. I don’t want anyone coming for me saying that I’m lying when I call him deaf considering he is legally deaf. It’s also much easier to say that rather than hearing impaired, which is the more technical term for his hearing loss, every time.
Now that that is out of the way – some backstory for a clearer picture on who we are! My hubby and I met in the winter of 2020 just before the New Year in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We got married shortly after, on the ski hill, in March of 2021. When I first had met Johnny I did not even know that he was hard of hearing, he spoke so well and was able to understand what I was saying. He also had just gotten new Starkey hearing aids! Pictured below.

More about Starkey to come in the future because we are a Starkey family through and through.
Since being married, I have learned so much about hearing loss and still learn something new every day. Johnny has congenital hearing loss. It is a genetic trait on his dads side, so his uncles, siblings, and nephew are all deaf as well.
Stay tuned for more stories, fun stuff about hearing aids, and more!
peace, love, and ears,
